Successes

During the Consensus Workshop on 2/19/26, I acknowledged what others said, by restating their responses. I called people by name when acknowledging them. I believe my tone was appropriate and my bearing held no judgement. I was able to pause and sit in silence to allow the staff to process and respond. I made an effort to include those who had not shared yet. I also expanded on thoughts with open-ended questions. My timing was pretty good. I had 1 hour for the workshop, and I ended about 5 minutes past the time with the survey.

I asked the staff member how they would like their one-on-ones to go. She said she would think about it.

Challenges

Sometimes, coming up with follow up questions was difficult during my one-on-one check ins with my staff (focused conversation). After my recent (2/19/26) Consensus Workshop, I realized I should have had questions as a visual on a chart paper for staff who are visual learners. I did not state whether to have hands raised or to shout out answers. I believe that was due to this being my first time with a larger group that was not familiar to me. The last large group I had was 12 and familiar so just stating responses in a conversational manner worked. I should have explained the cluster portion more clearly since some staff were a bit confused. I also could have asked for a visual sign that staff understood since some staff are quiet and don’t always participate verbally in a group setting. I also remind staff to speak a little louder so they could be heard.

Session Focus

Discuss how to run an Action Planning session. I have not facilitated one yet. I don’t quite understand the process.
