One of the successes I’ve had was with our new hire trainings. One of my responsibilities is training all of our new hires. I was able to create a more interactive environment by allowing time for the trainees to share their input. Instead of just delivering content, I’ve facilitated discussions where they were they were able express their thoughts and concerns. This approach has made the sessions more engaging, and the trainees have felt more comfortable participating.

A challenge I usually face is navigating uncomfortable conversations. Sometimes I can come across as overly blunt, focusing on how things should be without considering other factors that might affect the situation. Other times, I might come off as timid and struggle to express myself openly. This will usually depend on the situation and the person I’m speaking with.

I want to be able to develop skills that will help me better read the room and gauge how others might react and adjust my communication style accordingly. I’d also like to focus on developing balanced communication skills, specifically in navigating conversations and take into consideration the context and other factors of those conversations.
